Becoming Home

An 8-week somatic psychotherapy group to support those who’ve experienced a traumatic birth and/or postpartum depression within the last 4 years.

This group will provide support for those who’ve experienced birth trauma and/or postpartum depression in the past four years. Through facilitated discussion and guided somatic practice that includes breath awareness, mindful movements and noticing what felt sensations might be wanting our attention, we'll explore opportunities for healing and insight in the early years of parenting. We'll build a somatic tool box for regulation, rest and resourcing to support embodied parenting and minimize isolation by connecting with group members who’ve had similar experiences. The group will be a maximum of 8 members and minimum of 5.

Gabby Yates, AMFT is a mother, educator and somatic practitioner with over a decade of cumulative experience supporting women and families at the intersection of motherhood and embodied healing. She believes that the perinatal window is sacred and holds the potential to reclaim body sovereignty, center our wellbeing, and negotiate a secure harbor for our children. She is informed by both her work as a consultant advocating alongside community leaders in post-war zones to protect the mental and physical health of mothers and children and the combined twenty plus years she taught therapeutic/ perinatal yoga and facilitated trauma informed yoga teacher training for community health organizations improving access to maternal health care through birth justice initiatives. Bringing these two worlds together as a somatic associate psychotherapist, she has created this offering for new parents.
